Learning about ALS Canada research is inspiring for ALS Cycle of Hope Team Riders.
I was fortunate to attend Team ALS BC & Yukon Volunteer Conference on the weekend. I met many wonderful people who had also been personally affected by ALS–and, like me, were choosing to give back and raise funds to help find a cure for ALS.
Dr.David Taylor, Director of Research for the ALS Society of Canada, presented the latest ALS findings. He explained how the disease evolves and weakens the body. Although the cause of deterioration of the cells remains unknown, quite a few key discoveries are unravelling, puzzle piece by puzzle piece, the mystery of ALS. Each new discovery leads to trial medication to help slow down the fast progression of the disease, and will hopefully, one day soon, stop ALS.
It is encouraging to know that the research money raised through ALS Cycle of Hope’s efforts is well used by researchers. This evening, I am reminded of the importance of our commitment to ALS Society of Canada– ALS Cycle of Hope’s vision is to help raise ALS awareness and funds for Canadian researchers to find a cure for ALS. This is the only way for ALS Cycle of Hope to truly inspire hope for families living with ALS.
