They were childhood sweethearts who met when Laura was 15 and Richard was 17.  They have two children Nathaniel aged 18 and Natasha 17.  They emigrated to Victoria, BC with Richard’s work in August 2008.

Laura works at Getz & Burden, Certified General Accountants as a Bookkeeper and trainee Accountant.

Laura loves living in Victoria but hates being so far from her family back in Wales, UK.

Favorite Hero(s)/Quote: Our Canadian friends who have helped us and supported us in every way possible. They helped us settle in to the Canadian way of life and are now part of our extended family.

Lifetime highlight(s) :

  • Taking the chance into the unknown and emigrating, not knowing whether it will turn out and making it work.
  • Being a mom to my beautiful children and seeing them grow into young adults.

Reason for Participating in Cycle of Hope:

This will be my second year participating in the Cycle of Hope. I have met so many people who have been affected by ALS, I am thankful that I have personally not been affected. I know how devastating this illness is and I want to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure. I am proud to be part of the ALS Cycle of Hope Family from last year. I am looking forward to extending my family even more with the new team. ALS takes everything away from you, live life to the full, do something you wouldn’t normally do and cherish every precious moment..
